FAQs
I will not do this fake FAQ thing again?
Ok
That’s it? You aren’t going to make a bunch of fake FAQs to explain what ever this thing is?
Nope.
Good. Those FAQs were dumb and I am glad they are done.
damn it…just out of curiosity what is this event?
So glad you asked! The Coldest Day Field day is a 5K and Open event to “encourage” our fellow no namers to get out during the winter.
The 5K is judged based on time and temperature according to the Cold Running Index and any awarded bonuses.
The Open division is in the tradition of NNRC events in that participants can suggest their own events. The event only need to be performed in adverse weather conditions.
What do you mean “bonuses”?
There are a series of feats that racers can complete to get deductions from their overall time. Feats are also aimed at “encouraging” a hearty embrace of the winter. An initial list is posted above but more will be added throughout the winter.
You beautiful lunatic, I’m hooked! Tell me more…
Thank you! I’m flattered. From Now through the end of winter (March 19, 2021) you may complete a 5K and submit verification of your time and the temperature at the time you ran.
You may submit up to 3 times over the winter. Each submission will require its own donation.
A series of life choices and mistakes have lead me to live in a warm climate where there are no seasons and the very notion of winter haunts my dreams
You should participate in the open. You can configure your own misery. Go surfing on a flat day. Play badminton in a rain storm.
Events in extreme heat, lightning, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis etc… will not be accepted.
Does the windchill count?
Not for the index but please note the windchill in your submission for possible bonus points.
If its cold outside but I run ind…
No, you can not run inside when it is cold outside. We thought of that.
What if there is a tie?
If there is a tie in any division the tie must be settled by a 16oz liquid chug race. The liquid may be water or beer as decided by the tieees (or a coin flip).
Will there be awards?
Yes. As always the award will be strange, rare, and highly sought after.
Wait…wait…last one…the name is terrible. Why did you choose Coldest Day Field Day?
At heart the Coldest Day Field Day is not a running event. It’s an excuse to get outside with (virtual) friends. Kinda like a field day from way back. The hope is that no matter what event you choose the Coldest Day Field Day will give Nonamers a diversion throughout the winter.
